Matthew Aucoin

Matthew Aucoin is an American composer, conductor, and writer, and a 2018 MacArthur Fellow. He is a co-founder of
the American Modern Opera Company (AMOC*). Aucoin’s orchestral and chamber music has been performed, commissioned, and recorded by artists including Yo-Yo Ma, the Chicago Symphony, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the MET Orchestra, and the BBC Scottish Symphony. His operas have been produced at the Metropolitan Opera, the Los Angeles Opera, and elsewhere. Aucoin's newest music-theater work, Music for New Bodies, was directed by Peter Sellars and presented in 2025 at Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall and the Tanglewood Music Festival. The premiere recording of the work is set to be released on DACAMERA Editions.
