The founder and director of NYC’s longest-running early music series Music Before 1800, Louise Basbas, will step down as executive director after this season. The news comes on the heels of the announcement of a characteristically ambitious 48th season. Since June, 1976, Louise has presented nearly 500 concerts featuring established groups and rising stars, and what Early Music America calls “the cream of the early-music world.”
