Ghost Light
The Detroit-based Akropolis Reed Quintet's fourth album, entitled "Ghost Light," celebrates darkness and light, life-cycles, and how the past surrounds us in our daily lives. The works on the album explore the ghostly notion that there is much in front of us that can be hard to see. Composers probe the Egyptian afterlife, the intense emotional experience of facing a firing squad, the cycle of life, various kinds of light, and gone-but-not-forgotten Detroit neighborhoods. The recording features new works from composers Stacy Garrop, Michael Gilbertson, Niloufar Nourbakhsh, Theo Chandler, and Jeff Scott.
