On May 14 from 12-4PM, Metropolis Ensemble, kicks off its second annual outdoor festival, Biophony, at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. The event, presented in partnership with the Botanic Garden, launches the five-week-long city-wide project. On May 14, over 90 musicians (organized into ~25 “pods”) will perform 15 newly commissioned flexible open-score pieces throughout the 52-acre site. Each performance and listener-experience of Biophony will be unique, as determined by the unlimited flexibility of instrumentations, the topography of the site, and the agency given to participants to choose their own paths. A listening map will be available to all attendees.
