Austin-based composer laboratory Golden Hornet has teamed up with Brooklyn-based cellist Jeffrey Zeigler and seven distinguished composers for a new project bridging musical and scientific worlds, celebrating their shared culture of inquiry.

In The Sound of Science composers Graham Reynolds, Foday Musa Suso, Yuka C. Honda, Paola Prestini, Sarah Lipstate, Felipe Pérez Santiago, and Maja S.K. Ratkje each selected a scientist for inspiration – creating music that reflects the scientist’s life and practice. Written for amplified cello and electronics, the music is performed by Jeffrey Zeigler (former member of Kronos Quartet; and collaborator with Philip Glass, Yo-Yo Ma, John Zorn, to name a few).
