A Far Cry’s Visions and Variations is nominated for two 2019 Grammy Awards. The album, released in 2018 on the group’s own Crier Records, is up for Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance and Best Engineered Album (Jesse Lewis, mastering; Tom Caulfield, engineer).
Visions and Variations features Britten’s Variations on a Theme by Frank Bridge, Prokofiev’s Visions Fugitives (with new arrangements by A Far Cry), and the world premiere recording of composer/violinist Ethan Wood’s playful re-imagining of Mozart’s “Ah vous-dirai-je Maman” (aka “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”) described as a folktale for 18 individual string parts based on characters created by Mozart.
